FAIR Denmark has made a special pledge for long-term engagement with Malawi, focusing on partnerships that work and expand in depth rather than breadth -- quality over quantity.

In 2011, FAIR Denmark helped establish the first pilot project in partnership with NICE. Since then, the model has been refined and many more secondary school centres have been established together with Mzuzu University and the newly established society tMinds, lead by staff and students from the ICT department at the university.

Over-all, FAIR works with a milestone of ~80 secondary school computer labs or Digital Libraries. The milestone is set in accordance with the number of computers that we expect to continuously provide: Computers break and will need to be replaced on avg. 5 years after their installation.

Following this, FAIR's strategy will be to assist in sustaining these centres with hardware and to provide access to higher quality educational and knowledge materials. The effort also includes support for training and volunteer exchange.
